The Haters' Club

Tonight, my great friends and I went to the Richmond Night Market for some good ol' munching and shopping. You can find practically anything here from back scratchers to powertools to bras and panties. The one thing I would not expect to find were haters. The night market is an event held every summer to showcase encouragement and promotion of novice and seasoned entrepreneurs wishing to test market products for future consideration. It's an event held by the chinese community that welcomes people of all races to experience a one-of-a-kind event. This is why I was shocked by tonight's incident.
While browsing through a stall, my friend noticed some strange events next door. She said there was a group of young guys suspiciously talking to some policemen. She thought they were getting in trouble since their hands were behind their backs. Upon closer look, she realized that they were actually ratting the stall owners out. One of the guys told the policeman, "Yeah, this is the one." and not more than a few minutes later, both policemen were behind going through the stall's contents. This stall was selling impostor designer handbags. Eventhough yes, it's a bad business that puts everyone at lost (designers, people who own real handbags only to have others question the authenticity, etc.), there were many other stalls that were selling the exact same stuff. While the policemen were scanning through the goods, the group of young guys were having a blast laughing and boasting about their hero-ism. At the same time, they were calling their buddies to come witness their courageousness. Needless to say, the stall was shut down, but not before the group of young guys rounded up enough people to witness and humilate the stall owner's moment of complete embarassment.
What's so wrong about this picture, you might ask? The stall owners probably deserved what they got, you might say. What I found so disturbing was how the whole situation was brought down. There could have been so many ways this could have happened. The stall was shut down at probably the highest time of the night. No other stall selling the same stuff was investigated and shut down. The young group of guys looked like they were going around the market afterwards to see what other damage they could do. A place like this which unites so many nationalities should not have hate crimes.
I wonder if this will be in the paper tomorrow morning.
What are your opinions on this?
